POEM is set to become the magazine of choice for poetry in the UK and internationally, bringing today's best poetry together on a global stage. The prestigious European institutions publishing POEM, and the roster of major UK, American and European figures committed to the project are second to none.
The magazine's publishers include the Universities of Durham and of Santiago de Compostela, and Poetry Ireland. C.K. Williams, Don Paterson, Marjorie Perloff, Tomaz Salamun, Sean O'Brien, John Burnside, Stanley Moss, Andrew Motion, Linda Gregerson and Yang Lian are among more than thirty advisory board members.
Funding for the first year has been contributed by a major Canadian sponsor. As news of the birth of POEM leaks out, subscription enquiries are already being made.
POEM: International English Language Quarterly is to be edited by Fiona Sampson, the poet and former editor of Poetry Review (UK), who will be working with a team of dedicated professionals to deliver writing space and provocative reading matter for both established and newly emerging poets – from tyros to Nobel nominees.
The first issue appears on January 24th 2013.

Sampson launches new poetry magazine
13.12.12 | Charlotte Williams - The Bookseller
Fiona Sampson, poet and former editor of Poetry Review, is launching a new international poetry magazine, POEM.The first issue will be released on 24th January, with the aim of publishing "the very best poetry either written in, or translated into English". It will include original poetry from Sean O'Brien, Michael Symmons Roberts and Robin Robertson, as well as an interview with Paul Muldoon and memoir from Elaine Feinstein. It will publish once every quarter, at £8.95 per issue, with annual subscription of £30.
The magazine has an advisory board of more than 30 people, including Andrew Motion, Don Paterson and John Burnside, and its publishers include the Universities of Durham and of Santiago de Compostela.
Sampson will edit the magazine.
Earlier this year, Sampson resigned from her post as editor of the Poetry Review after seven years in the role, following a series of resignations triggered by internal rows within the Poetry Society. The rows led to a temporary suspension of the Society's Arts Council funding, and the resignation, and subsequent reinstating, of Judith Palmer as the Society's director.
The magazine may be contacted at POEMmagazine@yahoo.co.uk.
