NEW YORK 365 - A Year in Pictures - Day by Day

The excitement of opening book parcels has never left me. But yesterday the excitement level was exceptionally high. When the courier driver passed over the package at 8.00am I was amazed at how heavy it was.

I was intrigued and immediately opened it and there in all its glory was New York 365.

First up I have to say that New York is one of my favourite places in all the world. I have been exceptionally lucky in that because of business connections originally and more latterly because of family connections I have been able to visit NYC frequently  - in the past 20 years I've probably been there 20 times, sometimes for only a few days but often for a week or three. I love the place.

So you can imagine the joy I have experienced pouring over this gorgeous new book from Taschen. At the same time, over several hours, I enjoyed three coffees and two simple meals!


A double page spread is devoted to each day and features a new photo and a related quote, ensuring a constant source of interest and inspiration. At the end of the year I will just turn back to the beginning and start again!
Some of the quotes are just great - here are a couple of examples:

"Not only is New York City the nation's melting pot, it is also the casserole, the chafing dish and the charcoal grill". Mayor John Lindsay 1968.

"You see more life experience in one trip to the corner to buy the paper in New York than you do in a month in another place". peter Boyle 2002
