The three titles in the Fifty Shades trilogy follow in the second, third and fourth slots, with fellow erotica novel, Bared to You (Michael Joseph), taking the fifth slot. Meanwhile, Amazon.com in the US has reported that Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy has surpassed the Harry Potter series to become the bestselling book series "of all time" through the retailer. The statement included print and Kindle book sales combined, though did not give any figures.
Editorial director of books and Kindle Sara Nelson said: "Since debuting in 2998, Katniss Everdeen and the Hunger Games have taken the world by storm, much as Harry Potter did a decade before. Interestingly, this series is only three books versus Harry Potter's seven, and to achieve this result in just four years is a great testament to both the popularity of the work and, we think, the growth in reading digitally during that time."
She added that The Hunger Games is also the most-borrowed book in the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.
