Amazon Kindle Fire is set for UK October release

UK retailers Currys and PC World revealed today

ONLINE BOOKSELLER Amazon will launch its Kindle Fire ereader in the UK this October, British retailers Currys and PC World revealed today.
The two Dixons Retail group stores disclosed the news at a ridiculously early pre-Christmas press event today when they listed Amazon's tablet in their list of predicted top 10 best-selling Christmas gifts of 2012.

A representative for the group told The INQUIRER that the Kindle Fire will go on sale "around October", in time for Christmas, but failed to provide a release date or a price.
At the time of writing Amazon had not replied to a request for comment.
The Amazon tablet is presently available only in the US, retailing for $199. If accurate, this news means that the Kindle Fire will compete with the Google Nexus 7 tablet made by Asus that's due for release later this month for £159.
Currys and PC World predicted that the Kindle Fire will be the sixth best-selling Christmas gift of 2012. Google's Nexus 7 tablet came in at number three, implying that the retailer expects Google's tablet to outsell the Kindle Fire when they are both on the market.
When released, Google's Nexus 7 tablet will run the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. On paper the Nexus 7 offers significantly better specifications than the Kindle Fire, touting a quad-core processor that will easily outperform the Kindle Fire's 1GHz dual-core chip.
