» Google launches tablet Google has launched a seven-inch tablet device to rival Amazon's Kindle Fire, Apple's iPad and Microsoft's Surface, which includes a B&N Nook app. The Nexus 7 will launch in mid-July, with the UK, US, Canada and Australia the first recipients. Analyst Richard Broughton said the Nexus 7 would raise the profile of Google Play and added that: "Tablets are starting to become more popular, there will be no more need for e-readers.”
