Dr. Darryl Hart: "Almost All Old Princeton All the Time"

Princeton Seminary

H/T to Dr.
Darryl Hart for his scholarly leadership, conservation of excellent memories,  and contributions to the preservation of “that
old and scholarly” Princeton tradition.
A “careful breed,” my father frequently noted with approval.  "Good fences make for good neighbors," said Robert Frost in his famous poem;  Dr. Charles Hodge, amongst many others, raised the

Drawing the
Line: Why Doctrine Matters

by R. Scott Clark

Mike. He’s an unusual mechanic. Where other mechanics find natural laws (such
as gravity) unavoidable and even useful, he suspects them to be arbitrary,
invoked in order to stifle his creativity. We can imagine how the story ends.

There He Goes Again: Dr. Carl Trueman's "What in a Name?"

“There He Goes Again,”
a title that summarizes our thoughts on Carl’s post at the Bapyterian blog, www.reformation21.org, an affair under
Ligon Duncan and an outfit that largely hosts Anabaptists on its board.  (And yes, Carl, given your petulance on the point, I'm an old Canadian aware of courtesy protocols, am older than you, and have enough educational, military, command and executive

Update: Anglican Church of Ireland Reaffirms Traditional Marriage

The
Latest on the Anglican Church of Ireland’s Recent Synod:  Reaffirms Traditional Marriage

          The Rev. Alan McCann, a
Rector in the Anglican Church of Ireland (CoI), has written an interesting
update on the recent vote in CoI upholding traditional teachings on marriage.

The Rev. Alan McCann is Rector of Holy
Trinity Woodburn, Diocese of Connor. He is a founding member

Mindless Churches & Youths: "Generational Blackmail?"

Dr. James West, a philosophy Professor at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, MI, posts a good question in his post, "Generational Blackmail."  These kind of questions have been posed often so as to exclude Biblical, Confessional, and liturgical worship.  “Oh, the young people won’t like it…they won’t
come...we better do this.”  These type of questions have been
posed--often--to introduce

My story here looks at how churches are coping with a half-century of
revolutionary change in Americans' family structures and sex lives. Nearly half

Book Review: "Herman Bavinck: Pastor, Statesman, and Theologian" by Ron Gleason

WSCal carried this book review.  We've added Ron Gleason's work to the "must-buys" list, although at present Reformation Anglicanism is currently building the "Thomas Cranmer" section of the library.

Vetting Elites & Politicians: Mixed Messages on Marriage

An interesting article is posted by “Chaplain Mike” at: http://www.internetmonk.com/archive/mixed-marriage-messages. Chaplain Mike challenges us about Bill Clinton (serial adulterer), John Edwards (adultery with a “love child”), Herman Cain (alleged improprieties), and Newt Gingrich (serial adulteries). As Chaplain Mike concludes, “Now that primary voters have weeded out the

Homerun by Dr. Michael Horton: "Same-Sex Marriages Make Sense"

When "It's All About Me," one has no grounds
for a rejoinder!

          The Rev. Dr.
Michael Horton hit a deep homerun on the issue of homoerotic unions.   Again, we routinely vet solid websites,
authors and books—or, we try.  www.whitehorseinn.org is a blog site
that merits connection for blog-site owners.
This rebuttal from Mike goes to the very heart of non-Reformed, broadly

Triablogue: Political Will, Cultural Elites and Confessional Churchmen

Reformation Anglicanism attempts several
things.  One objective has been to vet
solid blog-sites.  Triablogue is one such
site, not because we agree on all things; they are Reformed and we are Anglican.
 But, they often offer important
insights.  Here, Matthew Schultz offers a
good one.  We’d add a few qualifications
however.  According to the Census Bureau 2010,
27% of America has a

Reformed Seminary, Orlando, FL Sells its Reformed Soul

          What’s
the matter with Reformed Theological Seminary?  Does “Reformed” mean anything?
Confessionally?  The Westminster
standards?  The Belgic Confession? The
Scots Confession?  The Thirty-nine
Articles?  This new move strongly
suggests the “dumbing down” of Confessional commitments.

Culture Shock: Moving From an Evangelical to Reformed Church

The day of the debate had brought a crowd of Presbyterian elders to the sanctuary of the Fourth Presbyterian Church on that day of April 11, 1933. The topic was “Modernism on the Mission Field.”

And the two individuals engaging in the debate were

The Rev. Mr. Daniel Hyde (URCNA)? Should We Trust Him? Can Anglicans Trust Him? Can Confessional Lutheran or Anglican Churchmen Trust Him?

Can we trust the Rev. Mr. Daniel Hyde?  That is the question at bar before the jury.  Let's read Rev. Hyde's book first, "Welcome to a Reformed Church." For this reviewer, the jury is still adjourned.  However, as jurist, a patient jurist and analyst, a reviewer, one who will order Mr. Hyde's book, we will render our verdict in time.  This much, Mr. Hyde offers compelling arguments in behalf of
