“My New Year’s resolution is to . . . write!”

No more staring at a blank computer screen and never getting around to writing that book you’ve got in you. Realise your passion and write now!

The Creative Hub offers a supportive environment in which students can share their writing with confidence and develop their skills. The eclectic range of writing courses on offer are taught by some of New Zealand’s leading writers and teachers of writing, including John Cranna, Tessa Duder, Roger Hall, Sarah Laing, Paula Morris and Graham Reid.

The Creative Hub enjoys a unique and stunning location on Auckland’s waterfront; part of the Maritime Museum complex, located at Princes Wharf. Over the summer months, they have a comprehensive programme of creative writing courses available, suitable for everyone from absolute beginners’ to already published writers.

Take the plunge with The Creative Hub’s National Summer Fiction School(Friday 11 to Sunday 13 January, 10am-4pm) or immerse yourself further with their Introduction to Creative Writing Course(Tuesday 19 February to 12 March, 6-8pm). For more experienced writers, there is Cranna’s highly-regarded Advanced Fiction Course (Wednesday 27 March, 6-9pm for two 12 week semesters); the only Creative Hub course to be held at the prestigious Michael King Writers Centre on Mount Victoria, in Devonport.

Other courses on offer include highly-regarded travel writer and editor Yvonne van Dongen’s Travel Writing & Photography Course(Monday 04 March to 08 April, 6-8pm; and two 2 hour photography workshops on Saturday 30 March and 06 April, 2-4pm) at which applicants will learn to write compelling copy for the travel media; and award-winning children’s writer Janice Marriott’s esteemed Children & Young Adult Fiction Course (Wednesday 06 March to 24 April, 6-8pm), where applicants will be taught to write fresh and imaginative stories for a younger market.
