The Board of the University Book Shop (Otago) Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Phillippa Duffy to the role of General Manager.
Phillippa ( Photo left-by Nicole Gourley,Southland Times) has strong ties to the book world. Many in the trade will remember her from her time with Craig Potton Publishing in Nelson, as Sales and Marketing Manager. Most recently Phillippa has been based in Invercargill, where she was heavily involved with the Dan Davin Literary Foundation and worked as Marketing and Projects Manager for the educational publisher Essential Resources.
UBS Otago has a staff of 17 and is owned by the Otago University Students’ Association. Phillippa is taking the helm just as the bookshop enters its busiest trading time with Christmas swiftly followed by ‘rush’ when the University’s 20,000 students return to purchase text books for the first semester.
Phillippa takes over from the recently retired Bill Noble, who held the position of General Manager since the late 1970s. Phillippa’s first day in the role will be Monday 3 December.
