Running your own home business is the dream of many an entrepreneur. With the internet, it has never been easier to start and run a business from home. In fact, that is exactly what I do – run a successful business from my home. However, as anyone who has tried to start their own business, whether from home or not, has run into the same problem: how to promote it. As there are hundreds of books, workshops, and organizations out there that are designed to help you market and promote your business the question arises, where do I start? Well, perhaps there is no better place then by grabbing a copy of How to Promote Your Home Business: Free, Easy & Low-Cost Ways to Market Any Enterpriseby veteran publicist and marketer John McLain.
Filled with a wealth of free, easy, and low-cost ways to promote your business, I found How to Promote Your Home Business: Free, Easy & Low-Cost Ways to Market Any Enterpriseto be a great resource for starting out. Walking you through how to get publicity, John McLain offers several simple, proven techniques for marketing your business. Beginning with the press release, this book not only gives you information on how to write a press release, but also on how to use the press in general to your advantage. Beyond that, however, and unlike many other books I’ve read covering the same information, McLain doesn’t stop there. Rather, he explains in clear, simply language exactly how to garner media attention and publicity about your business.

Likewise, he talks about how to build a media database, how to design and send out press kits, how to construct an effective pitch letter, and how to use timing to your advantage. Other aspects of the book include how to make your pitch personal – a key aspect if you want to get noticed.
The other main aspect of promoting your business covered in How to Promote Your Home Business: Free, Easy & Low-Cost Ways to Market Any Enterpriseis advertising. Usually a pretty daunting component of any marketing campaign, McLain discusses several strategies that cost little to no money and that allow you to “get your toes wet” as it were. Beyond that, unlike other books, How to Promote Your Home Business: Free, Easy & Low-Cost Ways to Market Any Enterprise
not only gives you the basics when it comes to designing and executing an effective marketing plan, but also the information and resource you need to make your own ads. This includes where and how to get images, what programs you will need, and of most importance, how to write your own copy.
How to Promote Your Home Business: Free, Easy & Low-Cost Ways to Market Any Enterpriseis an excellent book when it comes to giving you the information you need for effectively marketing and promoting your home business.
As an added bonus, the publisher has agreed to give away a free copy of John's book to a commenter. So tell us, what home or online business do you have and need help promoting?

I would love to read this book! It sounds like just what I could use to promote my personal life coach business: Simply Your Life Coaching. I bet many of my colleagues would feel the same! We have great training as life coaches and not so much training on how to be in business for yourself successfully.
Exactly Lori, this book is perfect for promoting such a home-based business. It contains so much information and resources, it really is a useful book to have on your shelf.
I would love to read this book, especially since I am a scrapbooking/memory preservationist consultant, which I do out of my home.
What an exciting and interesting consulting job Randy and Lisa. I'm sure the book would be of use for a scrapbooking/memory business.
